AstraZeneca, Brixham Environmental Laboratory has been selected as runner-up for an Achievement Award by national employment charity Tomorrow's People.
AstraZeneca has been chosen as runner-up in the category 'Corporate Partner Of The Year' and a representative attended the annual Awards for Achievement ceremony at Plaisterers' Hall on Wednesday 12th November. The Awards pay tribute to those who have overcome significant barriers in their quest to find employment.
The Brixham Environmental Laboratory in Devon, has supported the work of Tomorrow's People for ten years. As part of the Company's Corporate Responsibility strategy, AstraZeneca has funded a full time Tomorrow's People Employment Advisor to help get long term unemployed people into work. In addition, the company has also provided office space, IT and administrative support which has saved the charity the operational costs associated with delivering the service.
The local Employment Adviser has also extended the Tomorrow's People employment services to selected GP surgeries and Health Centres in Torbay and Newton Abbot for half the working week, enabling even more people in the local community to benefit from the service.
Individuals and their families have benefited from a return to work in financial, emotional and health terms. This in turn has helped the entire community, as an increased number of people who are now economically independent are involved with and contributing to the local community. The unwavering support from AstraZeneca in Brixham has formed the cornerstone of Tomorrow's People operations in Devon, and has helped a great many people to move from welfare dependency and forward into employment to take positive control of their lives.
