Camber Sands Holiday Park in East Sussex has been nominated for an Award for Achievement by employment charity Tomorrow's People.
The firm has been short listed in the category 'Employer of the Year', for helping the long-term unemployed get back to work.
A representative of the company will attend the Tomorrow's People annual Awards for Achievement at Plaisterers' Hall on Wednesday 12th November. The Awards for Achievement pay tribute to people who have overcome significant barriers in their quest to get back to work and to partner organisations that deserve special recognition for their support. The 'Employer Of The Year Award' is awarded to organisations which play a role in furthering the work of Tomorrow's People.
On being introduced to the charity, Camber Sands were immediately enthusiastic about getting involved in order to support long-term unemployed people back into work., Matthew Pearse from Camber Sands explained that his organisation wanted to give local people the opportunity to prove themselves in the workplace via a job placement initially and a full-time job if successful.
Camber Sands have been true to their word, with five clients now working full-time at the company. Theresa Pollard, Local Operations Manager in Hastings commented "I am delighted with the relationship we have built with Camber Sands, as their attitude towards the long-term unemployed is both positive and refreshing. The opportunities the company has given to local unemployed people has resulted in them gaining Basic Skills qualifications and jobs in an environment they describe as 'cool and happy'."
