A Positive Future For Ex-Gang Members
We help young gang members in south London turn around their lives through employment.
Young gang members who had been through the Metropolitan Police X-it programme were often ready to take the next step into work, but there was little provision for them in London. Our pioneering In-2Work programme filled that gap.
The programme takes small groups of young people who have taken the first steps to a better future by leaving their gang and provides them with personalised support. 2009/10 was the third year we have successfully run the programme. Half of our young people find jobs through In2Work, overcoming serious disadvantages and barriers on the way.
The project has impressed the Big Lottery Fund and as a result has been awarded nearly £500,000 to continue the programme for the next three years.
